The Department of Computer Science was established in the Golden Jubilee year (1997-98) of the college under self-finance scheme. Earlier, a permanent faculty from one of the sister departments (viz., Mathematics or Physics) acted as in-charge of the department. At present Mr. Nitin Gupta is acting as the teacher in-charge of the department. In view of the increasing popularity of computer science, the department has been shifted to a new building. Two computer labs and one ICT enabled lecture room has been built and equipped. Efforts are afoot to equip the computer science laboratories with about one hundred computers and to start new value added courses for the students. At present there are four lecturers, a lab assistant and a lab boy in department. Mr. Nitin Gupta (2002) is the senior most faculty member and current head of the department. He is supported by Mr. Indra Pal Gupta (2004), Mr. Pushpendra Mohan Varshney (2008) and Mr. Aasheesh Raizada (2009).
Student and teacher strength – At present, the department has a sanctioned strength of 4 teachers to teach about 300 undergraduate and Nil postgraduate students.
Curriculum Planning and Implementation – The department offers Under Graduate classes which are organised as per the academic calendar and curriculum plan prepared by the department at the beginning of the session and reviewed periodically.
Learning Resources – The department of Computer Science has Wi-Fi internet connection, a rich Network Computer Lab, Printer, Scanner, Projector and separate smart class room etc. Besides this, the college library has a collection of several rare books of Computer Science.
Additional Study Material – Departmental teacher provides notes, reference links of web site which help our student to learn in depth content of the courses. Uses of Projector Classes to provide enhance the capabilities and understanding of the students.
Assessment – Regular assessment of students through regular tests helps to develop better answer writing skills.
Learning Outcome – The department has a consistent pass percentage more than 90%.
Best Practices –include ICT enabled teaching method, off-campus guidance, E-learning resources i.e. WhatsApp Group. Teachers arrange open discussion environment to identify weaknesses and appropriate corrective measures. Our Teacher and Alumni engagement and career counselling are the corner stones of the department’s student.
Feedback from Stakeholders – To identify latent needs of students, feedback is collected from students, summarised and communicated to teachers.
Research and Publications – The teachers of the department are engaged in learning new technology and actively participating in seminars.
